Michael Hooker Obituary

Michael William Hooker, 66,  passed on February 17, 2025, in Lima, Ohio. Born on September 24, 1958, in Lima, Michael was the son of Larry Hooker and Rosemary Monroe. A man of quiet complexity, Michael led a life of adventure, often seen as a mysterious figure whose journey was uniquely his own.

Although his life was marked by a sense of solitude, Michael’s spirit could never be contained. He was an explorer at heart, a man who reveled in the freedom of the open road and the serenity of nature. His love for travel took him far and wide, especially to Florida, where he would find peace by the water, casting his line and connecting with the calming rhythm of the sea. Fishing was more than a hobby for Michael; it was a way of escaping the chaos of the world and finding solace in the stillness.

An outdoorsman through and through, Michael found joy in the simplest of things—whether it was the quiet challenge of a jigsaw puzzle or the boundless beauty of the natural world around him. His love for life was evident in these small moments of reflection, even as he quietly moved through the world, never demanding attention but always leaving a lasting impression on those who crossed his path.

Michael's story, though a solitary one, was also one of strength. He worked diligently in the construction industry for many years, using his hands and heart to build the world around him. Though his work may have been in the shadows, it was rooted in craftsmanship and dedication, qualities that were a testament to his character.

He is survived by his two sons, Ryan and Shane Hooker, who, though they may not have known him in the way many children know their fathers, carry the legacy of his name. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra Hooker, and brother, Ray Hooker, who remember him for the man he was beyond the constraints of the world.

Michael's life was not one of conventional fame, but rather one of quiet triumphs and adventures unseen. In honor of his memory, a memorial service will be held at a later date, where his sons, Shane and Ryan, will host a gathering to celebrate the journey he made, the lessons he left behind, and the man he was.

As we bid farewell to Michael William Hooker, let us remember him as a man who sought peace in the wilderness, who lived quietly but fully, and who, through his journey, left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who truly understood him. May he rest in the calm waters he so often sought and find the adventure he always yearned for in the next life
