Orville Jackson “Jack” Harden, 82, of McComb passed away Friday July 3, 2020 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
Jack was born in Liberty Township, Hancock County, Ohio to the late Francis and Mary (Bair) Harden. He married the love of his life Marlene Mapes on June 6, 1959 in the McComb Church of Christ and she survives in McComb. Also surviving are his two sons: Eric (Wendy) Harden of Springfield, Tennessee and Steve (Karen) Harden of McComb; grandchildren: LeAnne, Kristen, Ryan (Penny) and Brett; great-grandchildren: Jeremiah, Claire and Maddox; siblings: Margaret (Gene) Lammers of Miller City, Dolores Hindal of Findlay and Charles Harden of North Baltimore. He was preceded in death by his daughter Diane Renee Harden and a grandson Nicholas Harden.
Jack was a 1956 graduate of McComb High School and after graduation joined the United States Marine Corp, proudly serving his country from 1956 to 1958. Upon returning from the military, Jack was a carpenter for over 50 years. He was a member of the McComb Presbyterian Church, McComb VFW Post 9231, Rushsylvania Rough Riders Horse Club and lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association. Jack enjoyed horse racing, he received Senior awards in Pole bending racing in the Ohio Quarter Horse Association as well as barrel racing in the National Barrel Horse Association. Jack also enjoyed shooting and watching western movies, especially John Wayne whom he shared a birthday with. The most important part of Jack’s life was his family. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, especially his grandsons football games.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 from 4:00-8:00 PM in the Hanneman Funeral Home, 370 Park Dr S., McComb, Ohio 45858. Jack's funeral service will be on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the McComb Union Cemetery, where Military honors will be rendered by the Hancock County Memorial Squad.
