Ove Jensen, 98, of Defiance, Ohio and formerly of Grand Rapids, Ohio passed away July 18, 2021. Ove was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on January 15, 1923 to the late Johannes and Bertha (Martinsen) Jensen. He married Evelyn Cline on August 12, 1960 and they were married for 46 years before she preceded him in death on July 8, 2007.
Ove is survived by his special nephew Eric (Deb) Cline and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Ove was preceded in death by his parents, wife Evelyn, brothers: Erik and Ib; sisters Edith, Karen, and Magda, and his special brother-in-law Ed Cline.
Ove worked for many years as a lithographer for Graphic Arts in Toledo and was an active member of the Graphic Arts International Union #272. He was a member of various bowling teams over the years and also played the trumpet in a Big Band. Ove was known as good jokester who loved to make people laugh. He had a great love for all animals – especially his dog Blackie. Ove had a deep love for his family and would travel every year to Denmark to spend a month with his family there. He lived an amazing life and he will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
Graveside services for Ove will be held on Saturday, August, 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be gifted in Ove’s name to the local Humane Society, the Archbold High School Athletic Boosters, or plant a tree in Ove’s memory.
