Phillip Seth Wilson, 79, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2021 at Lima Convalescent Home.
A lifelong resident, he was born May 5, 1941 in Lima, Ohio to the late Seth and Mary Wilson. He graduated from Lima Central Catholic High School. Upon graduating, Phil started his grocery career at Pangles Master Markets. He also spent many years at Clyde Evans and eventually retired from Save-a-Lot. On August 1, 1964, he married Susan (Foust) Wilson and they were blessed with four children.
Phil was an avid sports fan and Disney goer. Phil loved to watch golf and football. His #1 teams were the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State. He never missed his son’s football and baseball games at Elida High School. In recent years, he enjoyed watching his grandson play football and baseball and his granddaughter’s cheerleading performances. Phil loved his yearly trips to Disney with his family. Each year he and Amy would go on a father/daughter trip to Disney.
Phil is survived by his wife of 59 years, Susan, daughter Amy Wilson, daughter-in-law Alisha Wilson, and two very special grandchildren Seth and Bailey. Surviving siblings include: Jean Borkosky, Kathleen Swaney, Miriam Birkemeir, Joan Maitlen, Beth Pohlman, and Tim Wilson. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Phillip Wilson, and twin daughters, Debra and Tammy Wilson; brothers, Dan Wilson and Greg Wilson.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lima Convalescent Home and St. Rita’s Hospice for the care he received. Per Phil’s wishes he will be cremated and there will be no services or public viewing. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida. A celebration of life service will be held when it is safe.
