Raymond Reutter Obituary

Raymond C. “Ray” Reutter, age 86, of Findlay, Ohio passed into the arms of our Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020.

Ray was born and raised in Sauk City, Wisconsin to the late Raymond and Ida (Zins) Reutter. He grew up across the street and alongside his future bride, Shirley Ann Theisen, and they married on June 19,1957 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Sauk City. Their marriage was a true example of devotion and self-giving that was witnessed by all who knew them! Ray received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison through the ROTC program. After proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force, he began a 30-year career with RCA/Harris Semiconductor in Findlay as a chemical engineer, eventually becoming the plant manager. His early retirement afforded him 31 years to enjoy the fruits of his labor. He shared his kind and generous spirit by serving as a Boy Scout master for his sons, being a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteering in different capacities at veterans’ clubs including the DAV, Amvets, VFW, American Legion and Moose Club. Ray was always one to have fun and socialize but was also a faithful and devoted Catholic who actively participated in parish life, most recently serving as an usher at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Findlay. Throughout his life, Ray enjoyed dancing with his wife (wow, could they polka!), skeet and trap shooting, bowling, tending to his vegetable garden and he never missed an opportunity to monkey around or play euchre with family or friends, complete with his signature “tackle box” of snacks. Ray was an incomparable husband, father, grandfather and always a friend.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, his children Steven (Luanne) Reutter of Apple Valley, MN; Scott (Mary Jane) Reutter of Findlay, OH; Liz (Todd) Hallberg of Austin, TX; eight grandchildren, Todd Reutter, Toni (fiancé Aaron) Reutter, Colleen Reutter, Trevor (Myndi) Hallberg, Matthew (fiancée Abby) Reutter, Bailey (Devin) Kilbarger, Schyler Hallberg and Angela Reutter; two great-grandchildren, Paisley Ann Hallberg and Sadie Rae Hallberg with baby Kilbarger on the way.
