Richard M Gibson

Richard M. Gibson, 61, originally of Ottawa, passed away at Tiffin Developmental Center on March 25, 2022 at 10:46pm. He was born on January 14, 1961 in Ottawa, Ohio to Wilford and Lula (Brenneman) Gibson. Both parents have preceded him in death.

He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Richard spent some time at Tiffin Developmental Center in 2007, 2010-2011 and was last admitted to TDC in August 2016. Richard spent his time at TDC on different homes over the years with Garza 2 being home for the past 3 years. Richard had 5 sisters and 1 brother. His father passed away in 2002 and his mother passed away in 2019. Richard’s sisters would call him on occasions as they did not live close to Richard. Richard talked of his mother often and would enjoy his time visiting with her. Richard was a graduate of Ottawa Glandorf High School and worked some jobs after high school. While at TDC Richard worked at the Brubaker workshop and eventually participated in day service programming. Richard enjoyed joking with staff, going outside for walks, eating his favorite foods, taking naps, watching movies, Ohio State football, socializing with others, going out to eat and his family. He would usually be seen wearing nice clothes which would include wearing a dress shirt and a tie, on different occasions. Richard endured significant physical and mental health changes over the past several years but would always enjoy talking with staff about family, old memories or current events.

He is survived by sisters: Lona, Violet, Sandy and Peggy, and his brother Terry Gibson. In addition, he had many friends and co-workers.

Friends may call at Hanneman-Siferd Funeral Home 506 N. Cable Rd., Lima, Ohio 45805 at 10:30 am on Monday, April 11, 2022 for a service to remember Richard.
