Rissa Marie Gable, aged 50, left this world with joy in her heart on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Lima Memorial Hospital, following a graceful battle with cancer. Rissa was born on Friday, June 21, 1974, in Lima, Ohio, to James Alvin "Gabe" Gable and Sylvia Marie Upthegrove, who preceded her in death.
Rissa was a devout Christian, allowing her faith to do the talking even when her lips couldn't. She has served in many roles at church throughout her life, including in hospitality, photography, and daycare. Rissa most recently worked as a home health aide with Interim HealthCare of Lima, pursuing her passion for serving others in need. As a graduate of both Lima Senior High School and Rhodes State College, Rissa's mind was indeed unlike any other. Rissa never failed to wish someone a happy birthday, congratulations, or check-in. She loved books that spoke to her soul, writing that captured her faith and grace, and family who filled her heart with love and laughter.
In her passing, Rissa is celebrated by her one and only son Quinn James Gable of Lima, brothers Eric (Dea) Lewis Upthegrove Sr. of Fort Knox, KY, Franklin Mark Jason Upthegrove of Albion, MI, & Reese (Jessica) Clark Gable of Cincinnati, OH; sisters Gena Senegal of Stuttgart, Germany and Kim Amerson of Lima; special cousins Rae-Jean (Bobby) House and Rochelle Upthegrove-Hutchins, both of Lima; aunt Ereen Upthegrove of Hampton, VA and uncle David (Dee) Upthegrove of Parrish, FL. A "gaggle" of nieces, nephews, and cousins are also celebrating her life.
Rissa's youngest brother, Dathan Wayne Gable, special cousin Richard John Mark Hutchins, aunts Rita Jean Upthegrove and Barbara Jean Richardson, and uncle, Glenn Mark Upthegrove, each preceded her passing.
Surviving "sister-friends" of Rissa's include Jami Manley, April Cochran, Chasity Mueller, and Julia Storer.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Hanneman-Siferd Funeral Home in Lima from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 1 p.m.
The Gable & Upthegrove Family wishes to express gratitude to the doctors, nurses, physicians & aides at Lima Memorial Hospital & the Cleveland Clinic for their excellent care of Rissa during her stays.
