Robert “Bob” Martin passed away suddenly in his home in McComb on Monday morning, Sept. 14, 2020, his 66th birthday.
He was born Sept. 14, 1954, in McComb, Ohio, to Robert M. and Phyllis (George) Martin, who preceded him in death.
He was a 1972 graduate of McComb High School where he was a member of the wrestling team, and he attended The Ohio State University.
He retired from Ball Corporation in 2017 after 38 years of dedicated service. He worked hard to provide for his family.
He is survived by his two children Brianna (Ben) Patterson and Blake (Irene) Martin; five grandchildren: Elias, Eva and Ezra Patterson and Charlie and Maggie Martin; five sisters: Karol Cunningham, Judith (Charles) Donaldson, Nancy (Robert) Wilczynski, Susan Henry and Kathy (Michael) Needler; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bob also was predeceased by his grandparents, Ervin and Gaye Martin, and Virgil and Hazel George, brother-in-law Gerald Cunningham, and nephew Anthony Oyler.
Bob had a great sense of humor and loved to pull a good prank. He had a nickname for everyone – that stuck. To this day, many of his friends and family are known by the nicknames he gave them. He enjoyed getting together every Wednesday with his good buddies from high school who would gather at his house for guy’s night. He enjoyed the simple things in life: seeing his grandkids smile, watching old movies on TV, a fire in the fire pit, cold beer and spending time with good friends and family.
