Robert Earl Ruehle, 90, of Findlay, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Primrose Retirement Center in Findlay, Ohio. He was born on October 24, 1935, in Adrian, Ohio, to the late Dean and Ruth (Romig) Ruehle. He was a graduate of Findlay High School. After graduation, he joined the Ohio Army National Guard.
Bob is survived by his children: Rodney (Kathy) Ruehle, Rene (William) Herd, Taunya (Jay) Frommer, and Terry (Nancy) Ruehle; 13 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren; siblings Richard, Donald, Carl, Virginia, Joyce, and Jack; and his significant other of 18 years, Shirley Stewart. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mary (Triplett) Ruehle, his second wife, Shirley (Willford) Ruehle; a son, Randy Ruehle; and his brother, Paul Ruehle.
Bob was a lifelong master woodworker who started out building homes - specializing in cabinets, mantles and stairways. He proudly served as a fireman with the Findlay Fire Department from February 1959 until June of 1974. He started Shurmax Safety Corporation, in 1971, and eventually sold the company in 1985. He enjoyed traveling with 50 North and participating in juried art shows and trade shows with his woodworking. His favorite vacation was to Hawaii and also enjoyed visiting many national parks out west.
Visitation for Robert will be held on Monday, February 9, 2025, from 11:30 AM, until the time of a funeral service at 12:30 PM at Hanneman Funeral Home, 201 Osborn Avenue, Findlay, Ohio 45840, where military honors will be conferred by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. Private burial will occur at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia, Ohio. Contributions in Robert's memory may be shared with 50 North, the Findlay Fire Department, Heartland Hospice or the American Alzheimer's Association.
