**Obituary for Sally M. Materni**
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Sally M. Materni, who passed away on May 31, 2026, after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. Sally was born on March 18, 1961 to the late John and Violet Wise.
Sally was the cherished wife of Kenneth Materni, whom she married on June 22, 2002. Together, they created a beautiful life filled with joy. She is also survived by her step-son, Jon Materni, a special niece and caregiver, Beth Watson, and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry her memory forward.
Sally is preceded in death by her parents as well as her sisters, Janet and Ruthann, and her brother, Johnny.
Sally graduated from Chippewa Hills High School in Mecosta, MI, and went on to help others as a private care STNA. Beyond her professional life, she found immense joy in crafting and creating beautiful beadwork. She had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with family. Her favorite place in the world was the Upper Peninsula, MI, surrounded by nature.
We encourage family and friends to join us in celebrating her wonderful life. A celebration of life will be announced in the coming weeks and will take place at the Tontogany American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sally's memory may be made to the Wood County Dog Shelter.
