Samuel "Gene" E. Borders

Samuel “Gene” Borders, 72, of Portage passed away Thursday September 17, 2020.

Gene was born on June 21, 1948 in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late Edmund and Hazel (Smith) Borders. He married Betty Harter on February 7, 1966 and she preceded him in death on February 11, 2002. He then married Linda Creps on July 17, 2012 and she survives in Portage. Also surviving are his children: Kathy Quate of Oregon, Ohio and Bill Borders of Risingsun, a step-son Justin (Elinora) Cole of Defiance; 6 grandchildren with one on the way and 2 great-grandchildren with one on the way; 6 sisters and 2 brothers. He was also preceded in death by a sister.

Gene was a truck driver who loved listening to Country and Western music, especially Willie Nelson. He had a great sense of humor and a smile that could light up the room. The most important part of Gene’s life was his family, especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy.

 A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 11 AM in the Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory, 1460 W. Wooster St., P.O Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Inurnment will follow in the Rudolph Cemetery.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be gifted in Gene’s honor to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
