Terry W Boston

Terry Wayne Boston, age 75, of Findlay, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024. Terry was born on March 2, 1949, in Delaware, Ohio, to the late Bernard C. Boston and Elsie E. (Boerger) Boston-Kandel.

Terry served in the US Army in the air rescue unit. A firefighter and EMT, he graduated from Rollins College with a Master's Degree in Fire Safety. He was a firefighter at Disney’s Reedy Creek Fire Department for 17 years before joining Orange County Fire Rescue as a Lieutenant, where he retired in 1998. Throughout his career, Terry received many awards and achievements. He was currently employed with the State Highway Patrol in Findlay, Ohio.

Terry was a Christian man with a kind, gentle soul and could talk to anyone. He told stories in such a way that you wanted to sit and listen to him. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He enjoyed raising and breeding miniature schnauzers, gardening, grilling, camping, boating, playing guitar, and spending time with his grandkids, family, and friends. He was an active member of his church and devoted to studying the word of God.

His favorite hymn was “I’ll Fly Away,” and with his sense of humor and love for making people laugh, he would often sing this hymn, adding his own twist by lowering his voice deeply and ad-libbing the lyrics “in the morning.” This always made us laugh. Looking back on these memories, it seems Terry did indeed “fly away” in the morning. Perhaps he always knew.

He is survived by his loving daughters Sandy (Caleb) Ziebold of Palm Bay, Florida, and Becky (Matt) Mockensturm of Cygnet, Ohio; grandchildren Asher, Asa, and David Ziebold; Elijah and Evelyn Mockensturm; as well as his sisters Virginia Shaffner of Florida, Deb Jackson of Marysville, Ohio, and Connie (Rick) Bright of Marysville, Ohio; and friend Rhonda Boston of St. Cloud, Florida. Terry was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home, 1460 W. Wooster Street, Bowling Green, Ohio. Terry’s Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Christ Church 14455 Campbell Hill Rd. Bowling Green, OH 43402
