William Bland

William Bland, 85, of Findlay, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023.

William was born in Old Fort, Ohio to the late Benjamin Franklin and Violet Mae (Gerstenberger) Bland. He married the love of his life Donna Wentz on October 24, 1959 and she survives in Findlay. William is also survived by his children: Douglas Bland of Kenton and Amie (Scott Dutton) Bland of Findlay; two granddaughters that he adored KiaLynne and DeLainie and a sister Kathyrn Acker. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Fred Bland, Raymond Bland and Wanda Bland.

William was a 1956 graduate of McCutchenville High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1956 and being honorably discharge in 1959. William was a former policeman for village of New Reigel and was an auxillary officer for the Seneca County Sheriff Department and the Seneca County Civil Defense. He was a volunteer fireman and worked at Whirpool as Supervisor retiring after 26 years of service. William loved fishing any place that he could cast his pole Most of all William loved his family, especially his two granddaughters who where his pride and joy.

Visitation for William will be on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 10:00 until the time of his Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM in the Bible Methodist Church, 529 Stadium Dr., Findlay, Ohio 45840, where military honors will be rendered by the Hancock County Memorial Squad

The family request no flowers, but to make a donation in William’s honor to Kidney Foundation, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or a charity of the donors’ choice.
