William "Bill" Buck

William “Bill” Buck, 77, of McComb passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

Bill was born on December 22, 1944 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Edward and Dolores Buck. Bill married Cheryl Breece on October 27,1978 and she survives in McComb. Also surviving are his children: Brian (Kerri) Buck of McComb and Kimberly (Nick) Gerding of Glandorf; grandchildren: Dalton Buck , Hailey (Travis) Clark, and Maddie Buck; siblings: Berthe Williamson, Sandra Buck and Deanna (Dave) Basinger.

Bill was the owner and operator of Buck Excavating and after his retirement went to work for Gene Stevens Honda (Now Reinke Honda) as parts deliver.  Bill also worked many years at Shady Acres Golf Course in McComb, as the groundskeeper and in the clubhouse.  Bill was a 1963 graduate of Van Buren High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Bill was a lifelong member of the Morrison-Moorhead VFW Post 9231 of McComb. Bill enjoyed the simple things in life, he enjoyed fishing but most of all cherished the time he spent with his family. Bill’s greatest joy in life was watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. 

Visitation for Bill will be on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Hanneman Funeral Home, 370 Park Dr S., McComb, Ohio 45858. Bill’s Celebration of Life Service will be on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home, with Pastor Jeff Fuller, officiating. Interment will follow in the McComb Union Cemetery, where Military honors will be rendered by the Hancock County Memorial Squad.
